Lift off

Dror wins first place in the DawnTown’s 2013 Landmark Miami Ideas competition with their "MiamiLift" proposal.

Dror has won DawnTown’s 2013 Landmark Miami Ideas competition with their “MiamiLift” proposal.

The theme for this year’s DawnTown Landmark Miami Ideas competition looks at how Miami is identified by individual structures present in the city’s urban landscape.

Designers were invited to develop a new symbol for the coastal city, which contributes to Miami’s current image and brings a fascinating new element into the city.

New York-based studio Dror’s winning “MiamiLift” proposal is conceived as a triangula building, which appears as though it is being peeled away from the ground and lifted above the water’s edge.

The proposal took inspiration from the city being a popular holiday destination and includes everything a holiday-goer may need, including a retail area, restaurant, café, theatre, media library and exhibition space.
