From the Series
Somewhere between a biodegradable fish farm and a synthetic reef, Microcosmic Aquaculture is a speculative project by Antonio Torres and Michael Loverich of Bittertang design studio. An unmanned and unmaintained fish hatchery or aquaculture pen is enclosed in gelatinous orbs that dissolve over time, releasing food to its inhabitants. The exterior of the sphere can nourish, shelter and provide substrate for wild fish and shellfish.
