The giant Cratefan made of 2 500 standard-sized Coca-Cola bottle crates at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town has been given an appropriate Christmas look.
Designed by Porky Hefer and Warren Lewis at Animal Farm creative consultancy, the Cratefan was created in celebration of the 2010 World Cup. It also illustrates Coca-Cola’s recycling initiative “Live for a difference”, with its goal of recovering and reusing 50% of their packaging worldwide by 2015.
This festive season the Cratefan is sporting a white beard, which Elliot (his real name) gives him a striking resemblance to Father Christmas. The “ho ho ho” on his “body” proclaims the season’s joyfulness, or alerts visitors to some other activities that can be enjoyed in the Mother City.
