Omi Collective Series 2 Stool

Lagos based Omi Collective has become a breakout star from Stockholm Furniture Fair 2025, using the platform to introduce the global audience to the Omi Series 2 Stool. The piece is a six-legged timber stool that offers a modern take on African seating. Designed for versatility, the stool can be separated into three independent modules, adapting to different seating needs.

The Omi Series 2 Stool embodies African design principles whilst promoting communal interaction. This uniquely crafted piece can separate into three individual seats, encouraging shared experiences and adaptability in various settings. The ability to transform from a single stool into three separate seats showcases a blend of functionality and cultural expression, reflecting the communal values inherent in many African societies.

The stool was designed by Olorunfemi Adewuyi, the founder of Omi Collective who took inspiration from the granary ladders of the Dogon people in West Africa, which feature steps carved directly into a single log of wood. The indigo colour of the piece holds a significant cultural significance in West African textile tradition.

The Omi Series 2 Stool not only serves as a functional object but also as a conversation piece, inviting users to engage with its design and the cultural narratives it represents. It’s a celebration of modern African design and celebrated debutant at the Stockholm Furniture fair.
