Woven wood

Bearing resemblance to African furniture design, Patricia Urquiola designs a wooden chair for Moroso.

Mathilda by Patricia Urquiola.

Taking inspiration from African furniture design, Patricia Urquiola has unveiled a unique and authentic chair for Italian brand Moroso.

Revealing a strong geometric structure, “Mathilda” is made from solid wooden legs and a curved plywood backrest, which is encased in rush or fabric bound to its A-shaped legs with a contrasting colour. The use of warm materials gives the chair a comfortable and easy-going appeal.

“Mathilda” was presented at Milan Furniture Fair earlier this year.
