By blending contemporary aesthetics with Turkish influences, Ayse Birsel has created a distinctive and whimsical collection of products for the home and office.
Drawing on her Turkish roots, Birsel collaborated with FilzFelt to design a collection of wool-felt products with bold patterns.
Ayse Birsel’s Collection for Fizfelt is a modern and playful manipulation of mass, porosity and scale, which translates well into products for home and office spaces.
The collection includes floor coverings, drapings, hanging panels and table top accessories all of which complement FlizFelt’s existing product line. Birsel deconstructed FlizFelt’s design DNA, which she describes as “purposeful, minimalist, symmetrical, natural, graphic, and scalable”. Within this framework she blended a contemporary aesthetic with traditional influences from her homeland.
Inspired by the minimal fabrication techniques possible with non-woven textiles, Birsel has developed playful designs derived from circles and rectangles. The Polka Dot and Stamp series showcase the drama that can be achieved with repetition in patterns.
With a focus on user-friendliness, the collection concentrates on meeting an increasing need for adaptable, multi-functional spaces within workplaces and homes while introducing bursts of colour and pattern.
