Inspired by the way in which man has always dug up, molded, decorated and cherished earth, this year’s Corobrik National Ceramics Exhibition demanded “something beautiful” of participants. Out of 170 entries, Nicolene Swanepoel took top honours in the competition, for her earthenware cattle heads. Ralph Johnson and John Shirley were recognised with merit awards, and highly commended certificates were presented to Louise Gelderblom, Drury Brandt, Sarah Walters, Sisanda Mbana and Carla da Cruz.
