Brazilian motifs

Humberto and Fernando Campana's "Brazilian Baroque" collection reveals traditional Brazilian style infused in modern and contemporary furniture design.

From the Series

Infusing Brazilian art and culture into a selection of luxurious furniture pieces, the Campana brothers will reveal an extended Brazilian Baroque collection in London next month.

Renowned Brazilian design brothers Humberto and Fernando Campana will introduce a distinct theatrical, gothic and sensual interpretation of furniture design with their Brazilian Baroque furniture collection.

Drawing inspiration from the intensively decorative and sumptuous Baroque style of the 17th and 18th centuries in Brazil, the collection includes a new coffee table as well as a selection of previous works done by the brothers, such as a candlestick holder and armchair.

Pieces are made by craftsmen with specialised knowledge of bronze works, all of which demonstrate a magnificent skill in welding together decorative motifs including keys, leaves, cupids and crocodiles.

Using the purest traditions of crafts and techniques, the Brazilian Baroque collection highlights the Campana brothers’ rich style where tradition meets contemporary innovation in design.

Brazilian Baroque will be on display at the David Gill Galleries in London from 1 May to 15 June 2013.
