Imogen Heap, the unconventional artist, musician and technologist, is exploring new ways to collaborate with AI to create music. Heap believes AI can enhance music creation by co-creating vocals, melodies, harmonizing, or remixing while still allowing the musician to maintain control over the creative process. Heap’s ambition is to showcase the potential of AI to enable deeper collaboration and connection within the music world, as well as between artists and fans.
Heap’s work with AI has led to the creation of Mogen, an AI powered digital version of the artist. Mogen enables new ways for Heap to interact with her fans, having spent years collecting and inputting personal data into the AI powered tool, the digital artist is able to respond and interact with fan specific questions and comments in a way that would be reflective of the artist’s own opinion, viewpoint and feelings. Mogen allows fans to get real-time insights and feedback that mimic an interaction with real-world artist.
In an extension of Heap’s work with AI, the artist has developed an AI voice model, ‘ai.mogen’ which is able to generate her signature vocal sound. In her upcoming musical project, Heap has blended her original vocals with that of the voice model. Imogen Heap's work is part of a larger conversation about how AI can reshape the future of creativity and music production, offering opportunities for innovation whilst balancing the authenticity of human interaction.
