Follow the journey of Dior's creative director Raf Simons as he produces his first haute couture collection for the fashion powerhouse.

Part of the event

Bursting onto the scene in 1947, Christian Dior today is not only a household name, but is considered one of the top fashion houses and arbiters of style. Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons joined the sartorial powerhouse in 2012, and during his reign as creative director he established his imprint on the label.

Dior and I, a film by Frédéric Tcheng, invites the viewer inside the fashion house with a rare look at behind-the-scenes footage of the sweat, pain and dedication it takes to bring a collection to life on the runway.

With unprecedented access, filmmaker Tcheng follows the journey of Simons as he prepares for his first haute couture collection. In the process, the viewer meets some of the seamstresses who have been employed at the fashion house for nearly 40 years. In exploring the entire makeup of Dior, the film illustrates the personal bonds that have formed between the collaborators and the legacy of the fashion house.

Dior and I will make its African premiere at Design Indaba Film Fest in 2015.
