Still to be constructed, the concept for the new Shenzhen Natural History Museum in Southern China resembles the sinuous curves of a meandering river - or perhaps even a Chinese dragon of mythic lore.
The undulating shape of the architecture apes the winding shores of Yanzi Lake upon which it will be built.
Some of the features include an accessible green rooftop along its length, an adjacent park, Organic geometry and Intimate connection with nature and riverfront.
“This building captures the unique atmosphere of a riverfront site and finds the timeless property of water is a concept,” said Yvonne Farrell in an interview with Inhabitat. “The connection between function, site, concept, structure, material and space is very clear.”
