The nominees for the 2013 Aga Khan Award for Architecture have been released. The jury includes the likes of David Adjaye, Toshiko Mori, Michael Desvigne and Wang Shu.
The Aga Khan Award for Architecture started in 1977 by a renowned spiritual leader of Shia Ismaili Muslims named Aga Khan. The award seeks to recognise works and projects that have greatly improved public life.
These 20 projects vary from a poignant exploration of a traditional building’s techniques to standard-setting architectural innovative works.
The winner of the 2013 Aga Khan Award for Architecture will receive $1 million.
Five to six finalists will be selected and announced at a ceremony held in Lisbon in September 2013
