Sponsored series: What Design Can Do 2013
For the third consecutive year Design Indaba attended the What Design Can Do (WDCD) Conference, as official media partners to the event that celebrates the power of design and its problem-solving abilities. This year the conference took place on 16 and 17 May 2013 in the Stadsschouwburg in the Dutch city.
Attending the conference and visiting designers in their studios in the Netherlands, Design Indaba produced a video series that gives a snapshot of cutting-edge design. Our series includes: Dutch eating designer Marije Vogelzang; Alfredo Brillemboard, founder of Urban-Think Tank, an interdisciplinary design practice dedicated to high-level research and design related to contemporary architecture and urbanism; social activist John Bielenberg who believes in "thinking wrong"; interaction designers Hellicar & Lewis, who use art, design and technology to create experiences that take people into the moment; David Kester, CEO of the Design Council in the UK,fashion designer Carla Fernandez is the founder of Taller Flora, a fashion label and mobile design laboratory that travels throughout Mexico; Mexican artist Pedro Reyes, whose work crosses the boundaries of design, film, architecture and pedagogy; and Mike Kruzeniski, design lead at Twitter in San Francisco.
This video series is brought to you by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
