“Can design help us understand and appreciate our cultural diversity?” asked this year’s Making the Difference Through Design (MTDTD) competition. The MTDTD programme supports the design curriculum at some 400 schools in the Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. Art and design learners in Grades 10, 11 and 12 in these schools were invited to enter the competition. Kaz le Bihan won the Gauteng leg, Jasmin Brijlal won the KZN leg and Meghan Lombard won the Western Cape leg. Lombard was also selected as overall national winner. Now in its third year, MTDTD is sponsored by Woolworths and Sappi. See the finalists and winners on display at the Design Indaba Expo.
